Steps to reproduce:

on an iMac running QS X 10.7 went to full screen when using Firefox


Actual results:

could not exit full screen mode using esc key
Tool bar would not display

Using command-shift-F exited full screen mode




Expected results:

esc key should return to normal screen size

Tool bar should display when cursor is moved to the top of the displsy/

Firefox entered full screen mode by default? If so, could you see if the issue occurs if using an empty testing profile? (Don't install any addons into it)

The ESC key is used to return to normal screen from flash videos for example. The designated key for fullscreen in Firefox is F11.

Tried this. No change. ESC does not exit full screen mode with the test profile. Shift-command-F does exit full screen mode.

Firefox starts in normal mode then I selected Full Screen mode from View in the toolbar to go to Full Screen.

When using Safari ESC doesn't return to normal screen either. However moving the cursor to the top opens the tool bar and the View option will exit full screen mode.

This seems to me to be the same issue bug 474070 and its dupe bug 518027, except that those two specify Windows XP and Linux, respectively, for platform, while this bug specifies Mac OS X. Should 474070 have platform all and this be a dupe of it?

About Firefox says Firefox 7.0 is up to Date. Attempting to load 7.0b5 into the Applications folder says I have a newer version installed but doesn't state the version number. So I didn't install 7.0b5.

OS X is 10.7.1

ESC still does not exit Full Screen mode. But moving the cursor to the top brings up a toolbar. In the far upper right hand corner is a nearly invisible (at least me) icon.  Clicking the icon returns the display to the normal size. Shift-cmd-f also returns the screen to normal mode.

On Linux (openSuSE 12.3) / KDE (4.12)
Nightly (central) will not exit Full Screen on Esc, switch window, switch application or switch desktop. 
Only exits when video finishes playing.

Confirmed Repeatable!
