Creating from Ubuntu usability test feedback:
"The majority of participants successfully created folders(...). After creating a subfolder, most of the users were unable to easily locate the folder created. This was due to them not realising they were creating subfolders; once subfolders had been created, unless that folder already had folders within it and it was expanded, users did not notice the expand icon next to the folder and bypassed it."
Conclusion: Thunderbird should automatically expand the roots folder after sub-folder creation in order to show the new created folder to the user.
