User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.20) Gecko/20110805 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.20 Build ID: 20110805212527 Steps to reproduce: Tried to add a new pop3 account to thunderbird ===== I AM NOT A WINDOWS SYSTEM... Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.18) Gecko/20110617 Thunderbird/3.1.11 Actual results: in less than 1/5 second the "guess" screen is displayed which only shows IMAP choices Expected results: There should be three radio buttons (1) Automatic (2) POP3 (3) IMAP Automatic can be the default. It is absolutely impossible to "stop" the search at todays higher speed internet - which does not make it possible for met to select POP3
The automatic selection as designed is "ok" for windows users with a singular email account. It is "ok" but a bad design. The initial screen should have been designed with three radio buttons as outlined above. Knowlegable users could then select IMAP or POP3 according to their needs. newbies could leave the button at auto, and would get what they now get. It is beyond me as to why IMAP is preferred over POP3. Either let me specify what I need, or display all of the choices. (I beleive there can be more than just "3" choices at some ISP's.
