User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:7.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0
Build ID: 20110908135051

Steps to reproduce:

Simply visit Google

Actual results:

With hardware acceleration enabled to the left and top of the page you should see a very fine 1px white line that only appears on pages with elements sitting at the top of the page that stretch 100%.

Expected results:

With hardware acceleration enabled no bar should be appearing as there is nothing on the page to make it appear in the first place.

I have attached an image with what i see, the top portion is with hardware acceleration enabled and the bottom portion is with Firefox still open but hardware acceleration disabled.
Can this be the same as bug 677095?

Chris, do you see this happening on Aurora?
Depends on: 677095
Hi Boris,

Yes it happens on Aurora but its not as bad, in Firefox 7 BETA the bar is always there but in Aurora you can hover over nav links and it slowly disappears then it fully disappears after about 3 seconds.
Chris, I was asking because bug 677095 is fixed in Aurora (but not Beta).

Sounds like this is a slightly different issue, then.

I don't see this.

Does it go away if you disable that extension toolbar? What extension is it?
It's not any extensions causing it as the 1px bar sits within the page DOM not the toolbar, after formatting my PC the other night i tried it on a clean install and it happened straight of the bat.

It's possible that the extension toolbar could trigger a bug that manifests in the page.

OK, probably not the extension then. Would you be willing to try different Firefox versions to see when the bug appeared?
Hi Robert,

The bug only appears after Firefox 6, in Firefox 4 and 5 no bar appears and it looks fine.
Alice, could you find a regression range for this? Very much appreciated if you can :-)
URL or testcase ?
Chris says he can reproduce it just by visiting Google, in the black bar at the top of the page.

I can't reproduce it, and I guess chances are quite high that you can't reproduce it either.
I Opened http://www.google.com/ with clean profile. and I cannot reproduce the problem.

It is necessary detailed "Steps to reproduce:", because Items in the black bar are different.

Hi Alice,

Like i said in an earlier post i also tried this on a clean profile after a full format and the issue occurred regardless of been logged into Google or not, don't have any other PC's to test this on as mine is the only one in the house that supports hardware accelerated performance.
I have narrowed it down, the 1px bar only appears when there is a fixed element with drop down items in it, with a straight navigation bar that contains no drop downs the issue doesn't occur.

The patch in bug 701528 should fix this.
No longer blocks: 701528

Can verify fixed, had this problem as well but now it's gone.
can dupe bug 701528.
Thanks.
Chris, can you confirm too (on current nightly of Firefox 11, but it may go into aurora and beta later)?
I have installed Firefox nightly 11.0a1 with hardware acceleration enabled and the bug has now been resolved.
