Firefox Aurora Buttons in 125x125, 160x600, 300x250 (en-Us_) Firefox Aurora for Mobile Buttons in 125x125, 160x600, 300x250 (en-Us_) Shape the Firefox of Firefox. Download Firefox Aurora Be a Part of building the next Version of Firefox. Download Firefox Aurora. Another Idea we had around copy is making it more personal or maybe something you would see in a button/pin like they are part of something bigger (ie. i voted) so maybe it's? I use Firefox Aurora. I shape the Future of Firefox. Get Firefox Aurora now. ill set up a brief call this friday or monday to brainstorm.

Thanks Grace. Do you have thoughts on how you want to incorporate the mobile messaging here? "for mobile" "on mobile" etc. Also, please provide direction on what key words / phrases you'd like to emphasize. Since we have the mixed font format, it's important to think that how things will look. So for example: "Shape the FUTURE of Firefox", "go MOBILE" , "download HERE" vs. "DOWNLOAD here", etc.
we don't have a lot of space in these, so I think the shorter the better. For the smallest buttons, I would say just "Download Firefox Aurora." When we start to add mobile, it's going to get tight in the small sizes. Maybe something like: "Get Firefox Aurora for Mobile." It would be great if didn't have to say Firefox and just let the logo do that work, in which case we could do: "Get Aurora for Mobile." Where we have the space, we can do: "Shape the Future of Firefox. Download Aurora." And: "Shape the Future of Firefox. Download Aurora for Mobile." I like the idea of the personal button, but I wonder if it works as an Affiliates thing. If someone sees a button on someone else's site saying they use Aurora, will that get them to download it? If we were to do this, here are a couple of options: I'm shaping the future of Firefox. Get Aurora. I'm on Team Aurora. Get Firefox Aurora. I use Firefox Aurora. Get it now.
As a general rule, we should be calling it Firefox Aurora whenever and wherever possible. That's the name of the product, and having that Firefox association is super important.
Regarding the messaging, it might be more direct if we say "for Android" instead of "for mobile", eliminating any confusion what platform we're available on
(In reply to John Slater from comment #3) > As a general rule, we should be calling it Firefox Aurora whenever and > wherever possible. That's the name of the product, and having that Firefox > association is super important. I thought it was OK to say Aurora if Firefox appears elsewhere in the line (especially in headlines and buttons where space is a concern) so we're not repeating Firefox too much. At least that's what I've been doing until now. Is that not the case?
(In reply to Matej Novak [:matej] from comment #2) > we don't have a lot of space in these, so I think the shorter the better. > > For the smallest buttons, I would say just "Download Firefox Aurora." > > When we start to add mobile, it's going to get tight in the small sizes. > Maybe something like: "Get Firefox Aurora for Mobile." > > It would be great if didn't have to say Firefox and just let the logo do > that work, in which case we could do: "Get Aurora for Mobile." > > Where we have the space, we can do: "Shape the Future of Firefox. Thanks Matej! Messaging is right on. Keeping is Download Firefox Aurora for the small once and the shaping the future message where we have a bit more space. the download aurora and shape firefox aurora message are top priority. i would like to try and test one of the "i am a firefox aurora user" message and see how they perform.
Re: comment #5 - if it's really clear that Aurora is a shortened version of Firefox Aurora it's ok if there are space limitations. Generally speaking, the goal is to make sure the product is recognized in people's minds as part of the Firefox family. I think as an organization we've gotten in the habit of calling it Aurora, when it really should be Firefox Aurora as much as possible. That's the main point I was trying to make.
Grace, have you chosen a string of text that you like from the list Matej shared above? We'll need a your selections so that we can move forward. Also, if we've doing the mixed font styling, I recommend writing out the copy with the all Caps included to be sure it still looks good and we're emphasizing the right words.
Hi Tara, The top priority is to get two copies in the three sizes provided: Phase 1 (nov 8) For the smaller button it can just be: Download Firefox Aurora For the slightly bigger buttons: Shape the Future of Firefox. Download Firefox Aurora the other two copies can be phase 2 (anytime after nov. 8) Copy and sizes in details: Firefox Aurora Buttons for Desktop in 125x125, 160x600, 300x250 (en-Us_) Phase 1: 125x125 Download Firefox Aurora 160x600 Shape the Future of Firefox. Download Firefox Aurora 300x250 Shape the Future of Firefox. Download Firefox Aurora. Phase 2: 160x600 Team Firefox Aurora. Get in now! 300x250 Team Firefox Aurora. Firefox Aurora for Mobile Buttons in 125x125, 160x600, 300x250 (en-Us_) Phase 1: 125x125 Get Firefox Aurora for Android 160x600 Shape the Future of Firefox. Get Firefox Aurora for Android now. 300x250 Shape the Future of Firefox. Get Firefox Aurora for Android now. Phase 2: 160x600 Team Firefox Aurora. Get in now! 300x250 Team Firefox Aurora. Get in now! 160x600 I'm shaping the future of Firefox. Get Firefox Aurora now. 300x250 I'm shaping the future of Firefox. Get Firefox Aurora now. Matej and Ty, please review and see if copy is possible to do in the sizes specified. Open to recommendations. thanks!
Hey Grace, If you want the phase one buttons live in Affiliates on Nov 8, we'll need them before that day. Ideally the 4th to make that day. If getting them into affiliates a few days after the 8th is okay, then please disregard my note. :) let me know if you have any questions about this. Cheers, C
Thanks guys. Matej / Ty, any additional feedback? Matej.. we can certainly finalize copy later (and we usually need to tweak once these go into the buttons anyway) but if you have any polishing touches, please let us know now. Grace, I'm still looking for feedback on the mixed font styling (with All Caps) and how it applies to the words we'd like to emphasize. Did you factor that in when you reviewed the text?
Also, just FYI: we're going to have Ty do the initial set of buttons, and the l10n strings will be handed off to Rhonda (in another bug that Grace will need to file later)

The direction in comment 9 looks good to me, but I'll work with Ty as he's laying these out to make sure everything is fitting and looking good. We'll let you know if any changes need to be made in the process.

Did you > factor that in when you reviewed the text? looking at the sample buttons that chelsea shared we can probably use the similar style: Download FIREFOX AURORA i am also thinking maybe the same style and fonts use in the Firefox Aurora page to keep the consistent look. and defer to your artistic expertise. =)
Priority: -- → P1
Matej and I toyed around with different copy treatments since the original "Shape the Future of Firefox" looked awkward in a 5-line or 3-line layout. Here is the link to the options that we came up with: http://cl.ly/0a020n2I1D00120m0D3a
I should point out though that this copy is only applicable to the 160x600 size, and not the 300x250 :)

hi Ty, these look great! i like the following copy: Shape the Future of Firefox Get the latest Features First Test the Latest Features. Shape the Future I also like the way the words are bolded. the only slight tweak I would make is the SHAPE the FUTURE of FIREFOX rather than SHAPE THE FUTURE OF FIREFOX, putting the emphasis on the "Shape" "Future" "Firefox" rather than "the" "of." Lastly, I was wondering if it was possible to have the purple background just be a tad darker (closer to the current Firefox Aurora page treatment). I assume that the lighter color is consistent to the other current affiliates buttons, but I was just curious if there was a way to bring it closer to the current Firefox Aurora branding treatment. Other than that, these are pretty awesome! Thanks Ty and thanks for the fast turn around!
(In reply to Grace Jimenez :grace from comment #18) > I also like the way the words are bolded. the only slight tweak I would make > is the SHAPE the FUTURE of FIREFOX rather than SHAPE THE FUTURE OF FIREFOX, > putting the emphasis on the "Shape" "Future" "Firefox" rather than "the" > "of." That's the problem with that one and the reason we came up with the alternate lines. Because of how narrow the box is, there's no way to emphasize the words like that. We're therefore proposing not to use that copy in that shape and use one of the alternates instead (we can still use that line no problem in the more square shape).

We're therefore proposing not to use that > copy in that shape and use one of the alternates instead (we can still use > that line no problem in the more square shape). got it! Im okay if we can't make the "Shape" "future" and "Firefox" the same size as the current "OF" and "THE", but if we can de-emphasize (maybe un-capitalizing?) "THE" and "OF" that would be great. Thanks!
(In reply to Grace Jimenez :grace from comment #20) > got it! Im okay if we can't make the "Shape" "future" and "Firefox" the same > size as the current "OF" and "THE", but if we can de-emphasize (maybe > un-capitalizing?) "THE" and "OF" that would be great. I'll let Ty comment in more detail, but it was looking really odd and sparse with "the" and "of" any smaller. Again, that's why we came up with other options — it just wasn't working in that space. Ty, do you think lowercasing the letters would help? Is that even something we can do in this layout? In general, I think we have to be careful and not try to force fit things if they're not working just because we like the words. Some layouts just won't work with certain lines.
These look great, thanks all. My 2 cents (I'm sick today so take it with a few additional grains of salt): * Feel like the purple is a bit too intense. The somewhat bright purple hue paired with the big white bolded letters just feels a little overwhelming to me. Can we tweak the shade of purple, as Grace suggested? * I also think that the all caps / bold feels a bit much... is there any way to incorporate some mixed styling in there? lower case italicized vs. the all caps? the mixed styling helped balance things out... to me these just feel a little too loud... * Related to that, most importantly (to me) I feel like the highlighted words aren't really the most important. "THE", "OF", etc... and when read together it sounds weird.. "SHAPE.THE.OF"... I know it's challenging to fit these in... but we knew that :) I guess I just feel like what we're highlighting could be stronger...
I did try the option where one of copy layouts de-emphasized "of" and "the", but like Matej said in Comment 21 it looks sparse and unbalanced. You get the same result from having both words being lowercase and italicized. Keep in mind, of the 3 sizes were creating, the 160x600 is the only banner it affects.
we can discuss in our sync up today, understand what the different options are and hopefully move forward with this. thanks everyone!
the new background color looks great! * some suggestions on word emphasizing not sure if this will screw up the balance of the design: Desktop: 160x600: "TEST" the latest features. "SHAPE" the Future 160x600: "GET" the "LATEST" features "FIRST" 300x250: Shape the Future of Firefox - this looks great! 300x250: "GET" the "LATEST" features "FIRST" 125x125: Download Firefox Aurora - this looks great! Mobile: 125x125: Firefox Aurora for Android - is there anyway to include like "Download" or "Get" - Maybe something Get FIREFOX AURORA for Android 160x160: GET the LATEST features FIRST. FIREFOX AURORA for ANDROID in all caps also looks a bit funky. Maybe FIREFOX AURORA for Android 160x160: TEST the latest features SHAPE the future. same with FIREFOX AURORA for ANDROID in all caps also looks a bit funky. Maybe FIREFOX AURORA for Android 300x250 GET the LATEST features FIRST hope that helps.please let me know if you have any questions or if the feedback is not clear. looks great! thanks again!

Hey guys-- Just to chime in here--I took a look at the public doc and although some of the phrases for the banners are in the same order as the ENG version (which I could just use for the translated sentences), some are not, so its a bit difficult for me to be *sure* that I am putting the right phrases in the right places going straight from the public doc. What has worked well in the past is to give me the ENG version of the phrase followed by the translated phrase for each language we are translating. That way Im SURE I have the right phrase for the right english version. I think that is what you were planning to do this time around, I just wanted to confirm. Because we are so short of time this round, any extra bit of help I have with the orginization of these will really speed this up. :) Thanks! --rhonda
Hey Rhonda, Milos has numbered the localizations so they correspond to the English versions. I hope this helps clear things up. Other than Turkish and French, I think you're good to get started. Start at the top! I'll update those as soon as we have them.
Hey Chelsea-- That works! Thanks for clearing that up. :) --rhonda
Hey Chelsea-- I'd like to try and get all the buttons to you by tomorrow--do you know if they are all complete and ready to go? It said on the document that there were issues with the BR, TR, and Chinese versions? --rhonda
Hey Rhonda, We're getting those corrections sorted out. You should be good to go with the rest and we'll update the corrections throughout today. Thanks!C
Update! Corrections made in Chinese and Turkish. Also, I'm not sure if you've started already (and please don't backtrack if you have), but can we use the following file name convention for the banners: subcategory-type-color-locale.png subcategory: download, upgrade, mobile, ff_plugin, build-better-web, work-for-mozilla type: small, tall, wide, square color: red, green, blue, orange locale: Any locales in production. Example: mobile-wide-blue-en-US.png, download-small-green-DE.png, upgrade-tall-red- NL.png Thanks so much!
Hey Chelsea-- The banners are uploaded here: http://www.intothefuzz.com/rhonda/Aurora_banners/ Please take a look at the files and let me know if any of them need corrections. Thanks! :) --rhonda
^5. Thank you Rhonda! I'll be in touch.

Grace, I've got all of those buttons and i've added them to the implementation bug. We're good Rhonda! Thanks!
Ok thanks Chelsea! :) --rhonda
