700731 - cannot type in URL bar using G2 slide out keyboard

Using today's birch build of Fennec from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/latest-birch-android/ I cannot type in the URL bar using the slide out keyboard

STR
- Using a T-Mobile G2 (HTC Magic maybe?) click the plus sign to open a new tab
- Slide out keyboard and start typing the URL

Actual results: instead of typing, I see an orange highlight of the first result in my history as if I used the mouse/pointer.  Typing does not produce any characters in the URL bar.

Note: if I do *not* use the slide out keyboard, I can type the URL just fine.

Hi Kumar,

There's a bug 697773, covering these issues similarly on other devices such as the Motorola Droid Pro. Let's move discussion to there.
