User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 Build ID: 20111104165243 Steps to reproduce: Opened an incoming message in a new window. Want to print but message is lengthy with numerous old messages. Selected all the old stuff leaving the new message to be printed. Delete the old stuff expecting just the unselected text Actual results: The whole message, (selected and unselected), was sent to TRASH Expected results: If you have text selected and hit delete it should just delete the selected text, not the whole email. It does work correctly doing it in reverse = select the text to be printed, and PRINT. But it should work the other way round too.
I do not understand this. The Steps to reproduce seem to be the same as what is said to work in Expected results. You can't delete anything in an incoming message. What exactly are you doing?
OK I wanted to edit an incoming message to remove unnecessary garbage. I guess that is not permitted. Not sure why, its my computer, I should be able to store anything I like in it. If you select some text and hit delete one of three things should happen. 1. It should delete the selected text (which apparently is NOT PERMITTED). 2. If it is not permitted you should be warned that it is NOT PERMITTED to delete text and NOTHING should happen. 3. It should warn you that you have text selected but the whole email is going to be deleted and ask you if it is OK to proceed. NOT EXPECTED The whole email is deleted including selected and non selected text WITHOUT warning.
OK, I can now see it. Steps to reproduce: 1. select a message in the message list pane. 2. click in the message display pane to select some text of the message body. 3. notice the message in the list stays selected but not focused (in Win XP it looses the blue background, is now grey). 4. Press Delete. Results: Message is unexpectedly deleted. Expected results: Probably nothing should happen. The focus is in the message display pane where editing an incoming message is not possible. So just do nothing. I think a warning would be superfluous.
