The Native UI shows checkerboard to the right and left of all sites. Sliding to the right the checkerboard to left diminishes so more of the left part of the site can be seen but not completely. The same happens sliding to the left. If no sliding is done, the checkerboard moves by its self all the time so reading the site is quite impossible. 1. Browse to www.clarin.com 2. Note the checkerboard to the right and left of the site. 3. Note the continuous checkerboard's movements by its self. There shouldn't be any checkerboard and it if there is, it shouldn't move at all the time.
I found this bug today's birch build (20111125) using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Android 3.1. In earlier builds the checkerboard showed to the left only, it disappeared as soon as I zoomed in.
Would you provide a screenshot of the checkerboarding on the right? Checkerboarding on the left is bug 704515.
Would a photo be the same? I don't know how to take a screenshot of the tablet and Android SDK is way to technical for me. I could also provide a short video for you to see the movements.

I know it's very fuzzy but it's the best I can do

Using today's birch build (20111204)the only way to avoid the last bug is zooming out (making the text smaller) till both checker boards disappear, but this makes the text so small it's nearly unreadable. This stops the moving around too.

I'm sorry Mark but I don't think this bug is a duplicate of bug 704515 because that bug is about checker boards to the left of the sites and this one is about checker boards to both sides of the sites, that is, to the left and right of the sites.
Summary: Shows checkerboard to the right and left of the sites → Shows checkerboard to the right and left of the sites, and sites move by themselves continuously
Severity: normal → major
I'm changing severity to major because: 1. The native UI builds are rather useless on a tablet in landscape mode and using the tablet in portrait mode is very unconfortable as the fonts look too small 2. The build will be Aurora very soon.

I've been watching this bug. I tested a latest-inbound-android build this morning across a variety of sites, and in all cases resulted in the issue described. This should be fixed with Chris Lord's dynamically-sized viewport work.
As mentioned, this will be fixed by bug #708307.
Depends on: 708307
Priority: -- → P5
This ought to have been fixed by bug #708307, please re-open if it didn't.

Should it be fixed in today's build (20111214)? If so, it's not. Should I re-open the bug?
I only just pushed the fix, so no, it won't be fixed in today's build.
Right, will it be fixed in tomorrow's or the day after tomorrow's build? I just want to know to be able to test it and see whether it has been fixed or if I have to re-open the bug.
(In reply to Gabriela from comment #17) > Right, will it be fixed in tomorrow's or the day after tomorrow's build? > I just want to know to be able to test it and see whether it has been fixed > or if I have to re-open the bug. It was just backed out for test failures. Follow in bug #708307
(In reply to Aaron Train [:aaronmt] from comment #18) > It was just backed out for test failures. Follow in bug #708307 I will do so, thanks Aaron! Shouldn't the "Resolved fixed"status of the bug be changed?
Changing to duplicate of bug 708307 instead.
