This page does not even work in 4.x. Produces same error.

My bad, the RealPlayer page needs LiveConnect to work. It needs the .ZIP file to be in the plugins folder. We do not have LiveConnect in Mozilla. Testing out their XPCOM version now.
Comment 5•23 years ago
|

The XPCOM plugin isn't much better. Just like the 4.x one, it says "Live-Connect Enabled" in about:plugins. Nick, do you know why this isn't working? Is it another Live-Connect issue?

Shrirang, Can you verify this bug? Looks like it doesn't even work in Nav 4.x as I get errors. Could be LiveConnect related. I suggest Evangelism? Marek, is this a bug Time Inc. wants fixed?

I just d'loaded todays NS6.5 build (04-24-09) and it worked fine, no issues running Real Player links.

no, 0424 build still shows the exact same problem mentioned initially on this test url. I even crashed when I closed the alert. Will attach stack trace:

just tried this on today's windows trunk with the following steps: Steps: Load http://www.presenter.com/p1/detail.asp?id=carlap000007 Click on "realplayer" (Audio/slides) under the table titled "View Presentation" Observe a blank window open up with an alert saying "Internal Error:[xpconnect wrapped event]; Line:undefined; URL :undefined" Nothing loads in the window and clicking OK on this alert crashes the browser.

Sounds just like my observations from before. My guess is that it's something in their source or javascript that is causing this error. Can you attached a minimal testcase? Perhaps we can find out what's causing it to fail and evangelize to fix their source [if that's the problem]?
Comment 19•23 years ago
|
||
If a minimal test case shows a reliance on LiveConnect from the Script side of things, I could evangelize this. But is the xpcom real plugin crashing also? If so, could this be a dupe of bug 79872 ?

tested the URL: with NS 6.1 build 2001060614 and the realplayer clip runs (is only audio). However if the window is closed, the clip still runs (you can here it running) and it does not stop until the last window of the application is closed. But the problem is: the process netscp6.exe still runs and you won't be able to start a new instance of netscape again (using the icon on the desktop, par exemple)

at peterl's request i debugged to see if the destructor of the nsObjectFrame is called and the answer is: YES. but the clip runs further. it doesn't stop until the last window is closed and even after the last window is closed, the process still runs (mozilla or netscape6, doesn't make any difference).

It works with xpcom plugin fine. Doesn't stop playing as Alexandr said. So, I beleive the original part of this bug is WFM. Filed another one, bug 92138 on the remaining issue.

Do they have xpcom plugin version for Mac? Or what we see is 'swept' legacy plugin?

The testcase URL is invalid however other demos on this site seem to work now. Marking WFM, please re-open if not so and attach a new testcase.
