Per suggestion from Max, creating a general ticket to track performance issues for large number of products.  In my case, I have ~3000 products.

Maybe you could change the summary into 
"Bugzilla is slow when you have a very large number of products (>2500)".

We have ~150 products (and ~17000 bugs), which is for me already "many".  And we don't have real performance issues with bugzilla.

Albert, do you see improvements since Bugzilla 4.2.1 compared to 4.2 or older?
Hi Frederic,

   I am at 4.0 but plan to upgrade to 4.4 later this year.  I did fold in bug 695514 into my 4.0 build which helps.

   But I make heavy use of the approach I noted in bug 740649.  That solved most of my performance issues, along with bug 537949,
