Steps to reproduce:
After dragging spliter to the left...
Actual results:
... address book pane can't be restored. The "splitter" doesn't appear. No way to reopen the left pane. The left pane is only visible in safe mode, but even there it can be closed but not reopended.
Expected results:
The "splitter" should appear (changing mouse cousor to double arrow) when mouse over the left border.

Similar, but not identical to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=609245. Reported on Win7/TB8, too: http://www.thunderbird-mail.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&p=305092#p304778
Per bug 609245, this may be solved in Thunderbird 10.0a2 (Earlybird builds). However, the non-existent splitter problem was mentioned there for Mac OSX, maybe similarly applies to Linux as well.

It does, but the Address Book pane (Directory Pane) can be restored using View > Layout > Directory Pane from the Menu Bar.
