nightly builds render >ae< as æ.
…generally text on ICS seems a bit wonky. numbers/symbols are displayed much lighter.

i should have done a bit more checking *sorry*.
this might even be a gecko-issue, as i'm seeing the same behaviour in todays desktop nightly when rendering Roboto.

ae issue is fixed by bug 721719.
