User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1
Build ID: 20111220165912
Steps to reproduce:
STR:
1) Connect to your Yahoo! Mail account.
2) Find an email with a few pictures attached (or send yourself an email with a few pictures) and open it.
3) Click on the slide show button to view the pictures.
4) Click on X button (or press ESC) to close the slideshow.
(see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/applications/flixy-04.html)
5) Click again on X button.
Actual results:
1st time you click on X button, the slide show fails to close and stays loaded.
2nd time you click on X button, the slide show exits but a black overlay stays displayed preventing the user from returning to Yahoo Mail (webpage stays inactive/unclickable).
Same result in safe mode.
Workaround: press F5 to get back to Yahoo Mail.
FF12 is not affected.
Expected results:
The slide show should close and the user get back to Yahoo Mail.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
Any (relevant) errors shown in the error console?
Component: General → Untriaged
QA Contact: general → untriaged
Already tested, safe mode and new profile don't fix the bug.
About the error console, no relevant errors.
I was helping a user on MozillaZine with the same problem.
I tested this in my FF9.0.1 and found this bug.
I tested with the same version in safe-mode... same bug.
I tested with a new/basic profile ... same bug.
I tested with the portable version FF 3.6.24 "and it did not have the bug."
Using my basic profile I cleared the Error Console and then performed all the steps to reproduce this. Zero "Errors", pages and pages of "Warnings" (typical of Yahoo)and I don't know if any of them would relate to this issue..., and zero Messages.
I don't normally keep Yahoo mail with pictures sitting around so I emailed myself 3 pics and then did the testing... so, for those who want to do their own testing... it's easy (assuming they use Yahoo Mail).
I added this info to note that there was no problem in my older Firefox version.

Which Yahoo Mail version are you running? AFAIK there are 3 versions available...(Normal?. Classic, Plus???)
I have to add that's not the only feature of Yahoo Mail broken in FF9, see Bug 713014.

It looks like I'm also using the "neo" version as Loic posted.
I used mozregression to narrow the regression range, here my result:
repo=mozilla-central
Last good nightly: 2011-09-27
First bad nightly: 2011-09-28
Pushlog: http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=1f800c226837&tochange=7f4867717226
repo=mozilla-inbound
Last good nightly: 2011-09-26
First bad nightly: 2011-09-27
Pushlog: http://hg.mozilla.org/integration/mozilla-inbound/pushloghtml?fromchange=29f857ce7e31&tochange=80ff402f2f7e
About the suspected bug, I have no idea. Maybe similar to another regression with Yahoo Mail, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014#c29

Anyone know how you change to "neo"? I have a yahoo account (that I never use), but don't know how to change to reproduce this issue.

"neo" is the default new version of Yahoo Mail. Before it was Yahoo Mail Classic.
See http://overview.mail.yahoo.com/ and click on "upgrade now".
Yahoo is "forcing" its users to update their YM Classic account to the new version.

Dupe of Bug 696103?

Same bug for me. Using Neo and FF 9.0.1.
F5 does nothing for me. I have to close browser and reopen to get back to Yahoo Mail.

I tested with the new release Firefox 10 and the bug is gone. The slide show can be closed (black overlay disappears) and the user is able to get back to Yahoo Mail.
I think it's a bug similar to Bug 713014 that's fixed de facto with FF10.

It works in FF10, it's similar to Bug 713014, so I close it.
