Thunderbird doesn't paste an image copied from Openoffice (Writer, Calc, Draw). Text comes fine, with or without formatting. Table shows, but without an image, if there was one inside a table. "Paste" options inside Thunderbird stay inactive after copying in Openoffice.
Tried GIMP - it's "paste" option receives an image or a drawing from Openoffice, so the clipboard works. I can copy&paste from GIMP to Thunderbird - "paste" option stays inactive, "paste without formatting" does nothing, "paste as quotation" works fine.
System: Archlinux, i686, kernel 2.6.31, Gnome 2.28.2
Thunderbird:
v3.0
Lightning 1.0
vcs Support 0.6.3.1
Openoffice 3.1.1, OOO310_m19

exemple of an image of a car in a odt document which doesn't work in Thunderbird 8.
I also try in safe mode, the result is the same: the "past" command in the "Edit" menu is disabled (gray). I am sure I compose mail in html. I also check that the past command works in other application (like Gimp), so the problem is in Thunderbird.

Seems similar to some other bugs.
To paraphrase comment 2 in bug 591995:
In Firefox, does pasting the same content into http://www.mozilla.org/editor/midasdemo/ produce the same results?
Answer is: yes, no image
So probably something in the core editor code than in TB
