The alt text for banners should really contain the text of the banner. This will require adding the text from every banner to the site's POT files and adding the translations as well.
That was mentioned in the SEO meeting yesterday.

Alt text is (according to Wikipedia) “to be rendered when the element to which it is applied cannot be rendered.” Current alt texts are not replacements for the images, at least some are useless in that role. Consider the three alt texts I’ve seen: * Android * Download Aurora * Download: Fast, Fun, Awesome
