Details
Tested in today's 3/13 mozilla builds on linux, win32 and mac. Tested with
modern and classic themes.
Summary: The message columns in the threadpane are sized according to the
longest item and not according to the width set in the column header. There is
a horizontal scrollbar in the threadpane to accomodate this width problem.
Setting the headers width has no effect on the columns.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open mail
2. log into mail account
3. view messages in threadpane
4. attempt to resize column headers
Results:
columns do not respect the header widths.

Marking nsdogfood since I can only see the Subject and resizing the columns does
not fix the problem. I can scroll horizontally but the column data is so far
apart from the Subject, it's difficult to determine what data (read, priority,
flag) belongs to what Subject.

Yes I see this too! The scrollbar width increases and decreases as I scroll
through my messages... This should *absolutely* get fixed for 0.8.1 and nsbeta1
imho.
