Steps to reproduce:

I have set up three newsgroups on news.gmane.org: gmane.comp.lang.haskell.yesod, gmane.comp.lang.haskell.cafe, gmane.comp.python.django.devel.

I read all messages in all the groups.

I switch away from newsgroups to read email that comes in on my IMAP server.

After some idle time, a newsgroup becomes bolded and shows a small unread count, usually in the ballpark of 5. At this point, I switch to the newsgroup either by clicking on it or pressing "N" .


Actual results:

Intermittently but frequently (at least once a day), the unread count jumps way up when I switch to the newsgroup, usually to a number in the 30s or 40s. The message list comes up with the first message in every thread marked as unread. Occasionally an entire thread will be marked unread. However, legitimately unread messages are correctly marked unread as well.


Expected results:

The only messages that are marked as unread should be those that have actually not been read.
