User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 Build ID: 20120215223356 Steps to reproduce: I went to the junk settings for a new mail account and unchecked "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account." Then I clicked OK, which closed the junk settings window. Actual results: When I opened the junk settings window for the same account again, the "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" was checked. Expected results: The "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" should have stayed unchecked.
(In reply to Jon Maloney from comment #0) I don't have this problem here: User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20120216 Thunderbird/10.0.2 Application Build ID: 20120216022139 Checking/unchecking adaptive junk setting is consistent.
Are any other options in the Junk settings panel saving properly?
(In reply to :aceman from comment #2) > Are any other options in the Junk settings panel saving properly? No. I unchecked "Enable adaptive...", and checked "Trust...", "Move...", and "Automatically..." boxes. I also changed the radio button from Junk to Other and selected a folder. I clicked OK, reopened the window, and the only things selected were the "Enable adaptive..." box and the Junk radio button. I experimented with the junk settings in my other email accounts and found some clues. I have 5 POP accounts (no IMAP accounts). The account I've been working with is the newest one which was created just a few days ago. I have the junk options unchecked in the first four accounts. I checked junk options in each of those accounts and they reverted back to unchecked after clicking OK and reopening. Changed junk options are not saved now in any of the 5 accounts. Then I discovered something that changed the way it worked. The junk settings window has a white box under "Do not mark mail as junk if the sender is in:". In all but my first account, that white box is empty. In the first account (which is my default) there were three address books shown in that box. The first one was not checked. The last two were checked. I unchecked the two address books that were checked. I don't know if I checked "Enable adaptive" or not (I don't think I did), but after clicking OK and reopening the window, the address books list was empty and the "Enabled adaptive" box was checked, just like in my newest account. Now "Enable adaptive" is checked for my first and fifth accounts and can't be changed. The address book list on the junk settings page is empty for all five accounts. Hopefully those additional clues will help isolate the problems.
If your addressbooks list is empty that is bad. Can be bug 536768 or bug 472959. Can you attach a screenshot of the Account settings window with Junk settings when the addressbooks list is empty? Also check if there are any errors in Tools -> Error console. Please paste them here. Do you have any accounts set to store messages (inbox) into another account (global inbox)?

I have attached 3 screenshots: 1. the junk settings for my first (default) account 2. the junk settings for my second account 3. the first screen of errors in my error console
Great, thanks, also notice the dropdown menus (folder pickers) for the target of moving junk mail are empty too. See this image: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/693/junk.png/ It is from bug 536768 comment 10. I think you see almost the same (but you also do not have the addressbooks listed). As you use Global Inbox then I think this is really bug 536768. I will dupe this against it. That will CC you too on that bug. I am personally working on that bug. If we find out that after fixing it your problem is still existing then we can reopen this bug of yours.
