Steps to reproduce:

I have a list with approx 35 emails/contacts. When double-clicking on it to modify, only the first 8 contacts are displayed ! All others are lost ! And if I save, I loose all contacts that where not listed !


Actual results:

A lot of contacts are missing in the list editor. When saving, all missing contacts are lost !


Expected results:

It should have worked correctly ;-)

Thunderbird is uptodate. (10.0.2)

This bug is generating DATA CORRUPTION and DATA LOSS ! I think that it should be very high priority !

Maybe you saved them in another "address book". In Address book, Go to View → Toolbars → Address Book Toolbar. Once you check it, choose the address book from the left pane.

Thank you but that's not the case. I am editing a group/list and when I "open" it (for editing) it doesn't show all contacts. Therefore if I save all missing contacts are lost

Dear aceman, before submitting the bug I restarted Thunderbird (and my PC) many times and the bug was always reproductible. But for now the bug has disappeared ! (Of course it's always like that, Murphy's law)

As soon ad I can have the bug again, I will look in Tools>Error console and let you know.

Yes, that happens :)

Also try to find out if it always cuts at 8 items in any list (with any contacts), or it chokes on some specific address (maybe containing special characters).

From what I remember it chokes at some specific address (not always after 8 items) and not in all lists. I am quite sure about it because when the bug was still present I was able to create a new list from scratch, insert all 35 contacts manually, and this list was working (at the same time as the other one was not working).

Therefore I also had the idea of a special character being the cause of the problem.

Hello, I was able to reproduce one of the errors.

When I open the list to edit it, in the list edit window, and deletes a contact, I can't save at the first time, I have to click many times on "OK".

And this is the error in error console :

Another bug with this list editor : each time I add a contact in the list, it appears twice in the right pane !

I have to click on another list and again on this one to get it fixed.

But if I don't do that, and deletes the contact that seems double, it deletes another contact !

I can see that one too (on TB10) but please do not mix it into this report, file it separately (if it already isn't somewhere). But it looks like bug 699357.

No. I meant opening all address books. Anyway, reporter tried it and the bug is still there.

Looks like this has never been reproducable, and it may well have gone so there's no point in keeping this open.
Comment 8 is wfm on 102.4.2 (64-bit), Win10.
