* TITLE/SUMMARY
Long HTTP file listings are 35 times (!) slower than Communicator 4.5x

* STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0) Launch Apprunner
1) View http://slip/projects/marvin/html/

* RESULT
 - What happened

On my Mac, a 294 second wait. (loads in 8 seconds on 4.51, using the same system)

On my Win NT system, a 69 second wait. (Loads in about 2 seconds on 4.51, using
the same system.)

I'm marking this as critical, because the user perception will probably be that
the product has crashed.

<I assume this is a known issue, but I don't see any Perf bugs to this effect,
and am submitted.>

 - What was expected

Performance equivalent to or greater than Communicator 4.51.

 - Occurs On
        Mac OS Apprunner (1999/05.25.16 build)
        Win32 Apprunner (1999/05.25.17 build)

 - Doesn't Occur On
        Communicator 4.x RTM

<Can't check Linux; system is totally hosed beyond my ability to recover.>

* CONFIGURATIONS TESTED

- [Mac] Power Mac 8500/120 (233 Mhz 604e), 64 MB RAM (VM on; 1 MB of VM used),
1024x768 (Thousands of Colors), Mac OS 8.6

- [Win32] Vectra VL (233 Mhz P2), 96 MB RAM, 800x600 (True Color), NT 4.0 SP3.

Changing all Networking Library/Browser bugs to Networking-Core component for

Occasionally, Bugzilla will burp and cause Verified bugs to reopen when I do
this in a bulk change. If this happens, I will fix. ;-)
