I can't connect to https:// sites with the 20010226 build of Fizzilla. Maybe it
hasn't been implemented yet?

Fizzilla is Mozilla for Mac OSX. Setting to New.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Version: 1.01 → 2.0

The Mac OSX build must support https. Was this reproduced on an official build
of Mac OSX?

I still can't connect via https using the 20010326 build of Fizzilla and the
release version of Mac OS X.
The release notes for the 20010326 build of Fizzilla say:
- Because of an oversight landing some changes, secure sites do not work
(https). Expect fixes soon.
Keywords: mozilla0.9
The target milestone on this is 2.0. Does this mean Mozilla doesn't intend to
ship a working Mac OS X browser in the foreseeable future?
Comment 6•24 years ago
|

Target milestone is PSM 2.0, which will ship with Netscape 6.5 - so Mozilla
and Netscape 6.5 should work with Mac OSX soon.

not future, we need this asap, probably for rtm

Get someone who knows OSX low level libraries to write the entropy
initialization for OSX (gathering just as much as MacOS 9 does). The NSS/PSM
team does not have the expertise to do this. Until such an engineer comes
forward, this will *not* get done.
We've posted to newsgroups asking for helping, and no one has responded.

Unfortunately, there was a mis-understanding (my fault mostly) between John
Unruh and I. I actually tested the _trunk_ 8.x/9.1 builds running *under* OS X,
not the Fizzilla build. I went to http://www.mozilla.org/ports/fizzilla, didn't
see a more recent build than 6/13/2001, so sorry, I need to test this on a
Fizzilla build (I wasn't made aware of this bug report when asked to test this.)

Pink, can you roll me up a Carbon build with this fix?

Engineering believes they fixed this bug. It needs QA now.
Marking FIXED.

WORKSFORME, Mozilla 0.9.2 from
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla0.9.2/mozilla-macosx-0.9.2.sit
supports https URLs, tested at Amazon.com
and https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html

The crypto team, along with help from several other people, finished the work to
get HTTPS into the Mac OSX source tree. This bug is FIXED.
If you'd like to see PSM turned on by default in the nightly builds, please see
bug 80270.

Platform: PowerBook G3/300/192Mb/25Gb, MacOS X 10.0.4
Build: Fizzilla 0.9.2 (20010702)
If there are any particular sites you aren't able to connect to, please post
them. Personally, I just tried schwab.com, and found SSL to be working
beautifully. Thank you SO MUCH!
