734248 - "Send Later" functionality is confusing and misleading

I use Thunderbird instead of webmail because I want to be able to attend to email while offline (eg. on a plane).  Attending to email regularly means composing emails in reply.  Thunderbird, unlike Evolution and iPhone's Mail app, fails Send if I'm offline.  So in those situations I'm forced to Send Later them.  Then, like last week, when I get online, I have to remember to Send Unsent Messages.  If I forget, I will remember a week later, and have many emails that I thought were sent, but in reality weren't.

So question is, what's Send Later good for anyway?!  What does it offer that Drafts don't?

IMO, Send Later should be removed.  And Send be made to automatically just spool and send whenever I become online.  That's just more sensible.

There is a setting in Tools -> options ->Advanced ->Network and disk space -> configure offline.

Does that help ?

Humm.  Not really.  I have "Send unsent messages when going online?" set to Yes already.  If that does indeed mean to send the "Send Later" messages, then it's not working.

Yes so you have a bug. Do you still have that bug if you use Thunderbird with all it's exensions disabled ?

Also, if the failure is about "Send unsent ..."/offline+online please change bug summary. thanks
