738510 - Some thumbnails are not being saved

To reproduce: 
1) create an account on https://mozillians.allizom.org/ with your mozilla email account
2) search for something https://mozillians.allizom.org/en-US/search?q=mozillians
3) see some thumbs are missing, and some of the missing search images actually have an image on the profile
4) upload and image to your profile, it will show in search and on your profile

We are not sure why some of the thumbnails are being created and some are not.

I'm not able to run the search in step 2 and searches for 'a', 'b', etc only return 1 result.

Is this still an issue?

I suspect this bug depends on bug 741465.

That bug 741465 is unrelated.
We removed this way of thumbnail generation because it was blocking at the time. 
We'll make a test page to demonstrate this in a future release.
