whether downloading is in progress, or finished, there needs to be a way to
dismiss the Saving File [aka, download progress] dialog.

if the button is Cancel [downloading in progress],the Escape key should cancel
the downloading and dismiss the dialog.

if the button is Close [or OK, depending on the outcome of bug 74011], the Enter
key should dismiss the dialog. [this is assuming the user had selected the "Keep
dialog open when download is complete" option.]

I think Esc should still close the dialog once the download is complete.
(Perhaps both Esc and Enter could close it.)
nav triage team:

Adding access keyword, will let a general accessibility triage handle this bug.

I agree with Jesse's addendum to Sarah's original suggestion.
The download progress window is a progress window, not a dialog. There should
be no way to close it, except by clicking `Stop' (which should be mapped to Esc
cross-platform, and also to accel+. on Mac OS).
Marking +, targetting for mozilla0.9. It is trivial to add accelerators.

You can already use Alt+F4 to dismiss this dialog. Why do you need to mark this
0.9 a week before the deadline?
->xpapps. BTW, I agree with MPT, but disagree with Jess, allowing someone to
'cancel' an operation that has already taken place would no doubt confuse some
into thinking that we were undoing it.

Why do I need to mark this 0.9 a week before the deadline?

Because I'm already rewriting this dialog and I'd prefer to do it properly this
time rather than try to replicate all the bugs of the current implementation?
Because this gives us a bug to axe when we realize we won't get them all
fixed? Becase I just felt like it?

Why ask why?
I'm not getting to this dialog till next round...

Marking nsbeta1- and p3

Priority: -- → P3
Sould stay in 0.9.1 since this dialog will be worked on a lot anyway and this
feature should be easy to add/fix.

in some cases, this blocks dialog dismissal [bug 85173]
Blocks: 85173
workaround from bug 85173: i was able to dismiss by tabbing around the dialog,
hitting spacebar, then cancelling if i got the Save File file picker --ie, if i
didn't manage tab to the cancel button in the download/helper app dialog...
nav triage team:

Real annoying, but not a mozilla0.9.3 stopper. Marking mozilla1.0

Esc and enter key now work.

Sorry. The space bar now works (but erases the file per bug 102956, so don't
actually use it yet).
Esc works fine to cancel this dialog on linux, winnt and mac 10.1.
unfortunately, space doesn't work when the Cancel button is in focus on mac 10.1
--then again, i'm using builds from 10.31/11.1...this might be fixed with more
recent builds. unsure how stable those are at the moment...
okay, vrfy'ing this as fixed --except for the spacebar issue on os x. i filed
that in bug 108722.
