Filing based on a number of input reports:

It seems there's an issue in Firefox 12 where on startup, the bookmarks toolbar is empty.  You need to disable and then re-enable the toolbar for bookmarks to show.

I took a look at related bugs fixed in FF12, but couldn't find anything useful.
