Set the value of 'browser.newtab.url' pref to 'about:newtab' (already default on Firefox 13). 2. Add a new tab by clicking the '+' button on tabbar. 3. Close the new tab. Actual results: 'about:newtab' was added to 'Recently Closed Tabs' in 'History' menu. Expected results: about:newtab should not be added to 'Recently Closed Tabs' list when it's closed. Chrome and Opera doesn't add their new tabs to 'Recently Closed Tabs' list when they're closed.

Indeed, another similar issue is duplicated to the same bug. The STR are still valid though.
