My account has been set to fetch headers only. I download message bodies on a demand basis. I upgraded from TB9 to TB12. After downloading the message headers, I clicked on an unread message - this means any message whose body has not been downloaded. After clicking to download the message body, the second earliest message (November/2008) is opened instead of the one I selected. This can happen whether in a window pane or in a new tab.

Reproducible: always

Set-up:
- Account set to fetch headers only
- Message list with old messages

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download the message headers
2. Select any new message (whose body has not been downloaded) in the message list pane.
3. In the message body pane, click on the "here" link - as in "Click here to download the rest of the message." - in order to download the message body.

Alternate steps:
2a. Double-click any new message in the message list pane to open the message in a new tab.
3a. Click the tab related to the selected message to open a window that displays the message.
4a. In the aforementioned window, click on the "here" link - as in "Click here to download the rest of the message." - in order to download the message body.

Current behavior: The second earliest message is opened in both cases (whether in a window pane or a in a window itself).

Expected behavior: The selected message should be opened.

I can confirm this behavior. 

In my case I noticed, that the oldest message is opened.
When I sort the Inbox list by date, the last message on the bottom is selected.
Sorting by subject the same message is opened after downloading while the message is somewhere in the middle of the list.

The header only email is marked as read after opening it.
After pressing the download link in the body the message is marked as unread again.
Opening this email with the now downloaded body is okay and it is marked as read again.

There seems to be no data loss with this bug. But with the similar Bug 748865 when the header only email is in a subfolder, it maybe that the message body is lost.

Please try with 12.0.1 once it is realeased and reopen this bug if it is not fixed there.
