Steps to reproduce:
(In a session where multiple tabs exist and some active browsing has occurred)
Open a new tab (Ctrl+T) or place the cursor in the URL bar on an existing tab.
Press Ctrl+Z repeatedly.
Result:
Weird sequence of partial and complete URLs appear in the URL bar.
Expected result:
Nothing happens on a new tab. Some reasonable undo sequence of the typed URL occurs on existing tabs.

The only time I see strange behavior with ctrl-z in today's 56 nightly is while visiting some about: pages. For instance if I visit about:config and ctrl-z on the url bar, it seems to revert to the previous URL in that tab's back/forward history (ending up blank if there's nothing there). This doesn't strike me as a big deal. HOWEVER, sometimes it will instead jump to an intermediate "about:" value for some reason, and in rare cases it will actually revert to "amazon.com" even though that isn't even in my browsing history in that profile. But for general sites and hand-edits to the URL, ctrl-z doesn't act erratically.

I think that depends on the specific about: page privilege.
