When I'm looking through various chat histories (mostly Twitter, but IRC too), all of the posts only show the time of day that the post was made. This is fine for posts made today, but it gets confusing really quickly when the posts were made more than one day ago. I know there's the lines between posts that say how much time has passed between the previous and next message, but that's all relative to those two messages, it's not able to tell me exactly when a post was made. In the Mail portion of Thunderbird, anything older than one day shows the calendar date plus the time in the "Date" column, while messages from the current day show only the time. Something like that would be good for Chat messages, too. At the very least, it'd be nice if the timestamp for each message had a tooltip that shows the exact time and date for the message when you hover over it.
