Ludovic, this is not necessarily a chat-related bug.

This error will happen when clicking the "Chat" toobar button if anything broke the UI startup by causing a JS error before the code in chat-messenger-overlay.js had a change to initialize itself.

Likely causes:
- a broken add-on? Can you reproduce this bug in safe mode?
- a busted build? Bug 762033 for example? Which version were you using?

yes - even if alla dd-ons are disabled it happens.

Ok, do you have any error in the Error Console?

pls see attached screen shot (BTW I missed a text copy+paste functionality there)
Have you enabled the chat feature yourself by changing a preference value from the advanced configuration editor?

Is this error happening at shutdown? Or after you clicked something?

Thanks!

Have you ever used with this profile a Daily or EarlyBird build that had the Chat feature enabled?

Is there anything visibly broken in addition to this stack printed in your terminal?
(In reply to Florian Quèze from comment #7)
> Have you ever used with this profile a Daily or EarlyBird build that had the

No - I started with mail-client/thunderbird-bin-10.0.3 at 18th of April and upgraded to mail-client/thunderbird-10.0.4, mail-client/thunderbird-12.0.1 and finally to mail-client/thunderbird-13.0

Toralf, so version 12 does not crash?
(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #9)
> Toralf, so version 12 does not crash?

N/A b/c I switched from binary package 10.0 to self-compiled package 13.0 here at Gentoo
(In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk) from comment #9)
> Toralf, so version 12 does not crash?

what I'm really asking for is to please clarify comment 8. At the time you made comment 8, had you run version 12 long enough to know that it didn't crash like version 13 does?

no - at version 12 I only took a quick view, nothing more.
Please see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Shutdown_Hang and also obtain a stacktrace with symbols
