Steps to reproduce:

1. View a GIF
2. Notice that the first playthrough does not complete. The GIF repeats after only about a second of second of playback.
3. Notice that subsequent playthroughs make a full cycle of the frames.

Any gif that is sufficiently long. I can't do it on command, but it happens reliably throughout a session.

This occurs most often on sites where you catch the first loop of a gif like Reddit or 4chan.

Eric, could you attach an affected GIF to the bug, or provide the URL of an example? (Just so people trying to reproduce it don't have to go looking for one.)

Found a good candidate gif. It's 2.4 MB large, so 56K warning.

As far as I've noticed, the bug only manifests if it is the first time you see the image, not just a first loop. If the image has been cached, the bug doesn't appear.

It looks like Bug 909257 and Bug 924366 duplicate this report.

All 3 describe the same behavior of large GIF images beginning to play back before they have completely downloaded/decoded.
