Ok, sorry to be a pain, but this has been bothering me for a while now. kmcclusk@netscape.com: If a bug is a duplicate of an existing bug, then it is not invalid, it is a duplicate. If you can't find the original, you should say that you think it is a dup, and mark it as `qawanted'; you should not resolve it as invalid. There is always the possibility that you may be mistaken, and that the other bug may not actually exist. If you don't mark the duplicate, it is extremely difficult for other people to tell whether or not this is the case, and a valid bug may get lost. sujay@netscape.com: Please stop saying that duplicate resolutions have been `verified in <m/dd> build'. For the most part, verifying duplicates is not something you can do by testing their duplicity in a particular build; it is something you can only do by reading both bug reports. Saying that a duplicate has been verified in a particular build, like you frequently do, will only lead those who read the bug report to suspect that the bug was given a rubber stamp rather than being verified properly. This in turn may lead them to waste time privately verifying the duplicate for themselves, rather than trusting the word of the QA person.
