Steps to reproduce:

Dear IT specialists,

I have two pop3 email accounts, see attached pdf. In "Local Folders" -> "View settings for this account" -> "jweber.mail@gmx.net" -> "Junk Settings", I uncheck the check box "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for his account". After clicking on "OK", I open the "View settings for this account" -> "Junk Settings" a second time, just for verifying, if my selection has been accepted - and the check box is again checked!
I have to uncheck again, again "OK" and mustn't look into it again. Then the deselection works, that is the junk mail controls are enabled.
Therefore I think, that the bug occurs when opening the "View settings for this account" -> "Junk Settings", at this moment the check box is activated by the system, even though it was saved in unchecked status.

I always had two pop3 mail accounts, and the bug occurs only in the second account. In the first account, when I decheck the checkbox, the checkbox is also displayed in dechecked state when verifying.

This bug I have noticed now for several years. Perhaps it can be fixed.
Best regards
Joachim

Expected results:

In "View Settings for the account" -> "Junk Settings", the check box ""Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account" should be displayed unchecked, if it was unchecked.
Notice the folder pickers ("Junk folder on" and 'Other") are empty. That is a broken state. It seems you have deferred folders (you set store the inbox of this account into Global inbox). See bug 536768.

See if the workaround in bug 536768 comment 18 and comment 19 fixes it for you (basically, turn of the deferring temporarily, disable the junk settings and then enable deferring again). Does it help?

The work around suggested in bug 53768 did work - but I still think, that this is a bug. Changes in the junk filter setting should be accepted/saved per se, i.e. also without the work around.
Thanks for the help.
