Close tabs by slide will close tabs if you've moved them far enough (currently from the left half to the right half or vice versa, but that may change in bug 764812), even if you've stopped or done it very slowly. We provide no visual indication where this border is.
Most Android swipe to close implementations fade the row as you slide it. We can do the same, but also use it to indicate when you've passed this point.
