User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0
Build ID: 20120619191901

Steps to reproduce:

Replied to a mail that I received.

Actual results:

Mail was sent (everything OK), but I discovered that the From value for the composed and sent mail is wrong in the list - is receiver of the mail.

Expected results:

My name should have been in the list.

Listed is the issues from same timestamp as sent mail
Mails are located in a sub-folder to Inbox.
I tried to shift view to Inbox and back - wrong value was still shown.
After restart of Thunderbird the right value was shown...

This error is related to interpreting HTML code. See some similar bugs: http://tinyurl.com/7rt55rq

OK - just wanted to be as informative as possible... ;)
Does repairing the folder fixes the issue ?
Peter Sone Koldjaer, thanks for filing this bug, especially annotated screenshot of attachment 636183 [details] showing the issue.

Peter, are you able to reproduce this bug, e.g. by replying to the same message again?

Well, reporter says in comment 3 that after restart of TB, values in from-column were correct, so reparing folder isn't needed...

I think Hashem is trying to say that *Errors seen in error console* are related to HTML code (hence unrelated to this bug), which is true.

*This bug 767829* is not related to HTML code.

(Hashem, "this error" is gramatically ambiguous in your comment 5, as the reference of "this" is unclear)
Attachment #636184 - Attachment is obsolete: true
I tried to reproduce with the following steps:
1: Send mail fra my wifes account to me.
2: I reply to this mail - From column shows her name!
3: I try to reply to her mail again - then both my replies have correct From name (seen on attachment).
WADA, as seen in screenshots of attachment 636183 [details] and attachment 641111 [details], this isn't about wrong sender when composing, only a temporary display problem of "From" column in message list.
No longer blocks: 699681
Summary: Wrong value displyed in From column → After replying to a message, message list's From column temporarily shows recipient instead of sender

Peter, can you try this and see if you can still reproduce afterwards?

Right-click on affected folder in folder list > Properties > Repair folder

More questions:
1) Which method/settings are you using to file your reply in the same folder as the original message?
2) what type of folder is it (Inbox, Inbox subfolder etc.)?
3) using POP or IMAP?
Peter, can you reproduce in Safe Mode (with all addons disabled)?

Attachment #636183 - Attachment description: Dump of UI → Screenshot 1: Recipient's name wrongly shown in From column
Attachment #641111 - Attachment description: Making 2 replies → Screenshot 2: From column correctly shows sender after 2nd reply
> Peter, can you try this and see if you can still reproduce afterwards?
I can still reproduce in build 20120711200400.

> Right-click on affected folder in folder list > Properties > Repair folder
Does not help - value in From column still wrong.

I have enables "Place replies on same folder..."

> 2) what type of folder is it (Inbox, Inbox subfolder etc.)?
I can reproduce in Inbox, but also in Inbox subfolder.

> 3) using POP or IMAP?
IMAP

Yes
I'm unable to reproduce this for *POP* subfolder of Inbox, but it's reported against IMAP.
Summary: Message list: From column of reply message temporarily shows recipient instead of sender → Message list: From column of reply message temporarily shows recipient instead of sender (seen on IMAP, with "Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to")
Attached image New observation
Today I had to send 2 invitations - so after I sent the first one, I changed folder to Sent Items to be ready to click Forward on the first mail.
Then I saw this new thing: The Recipient on the first mail, is the same as an email I sent yesterday...
Odd problem you've got.

Peter, Do you still see it when using much newer version 38 or current beta http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/ ? (which is almost at the next major release, version 45)
