Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0
Build ID: 20120624012213
Steps to reproduce:
Downloaded and run Firefox from the webpage
Actual results:
It downloaded and set itself up in ~/firefox.
However, cached files are stored in ~/.mozilla/firefox/<mumble>/Cache
Expected results:
As per http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html the appropriate place for the Cache is $XDG_CACHE_HOME
Which is either a specific location, or default to $HOME/.cache
This means that backup programs will automagically skip Firefox's cache (for example).

:bsmedberg, I don't see how this bug would be a duplicate of bug 239254. Most relation I see is that bug 239254 blocks this one.
Firefox should DEFAULT to keeping non-persistent files in $XDG_CACHE_HOME, not have an option to do that.
