1. Press Cmd+T.
2. Select a recent page from the History menu.
Result: Firefox waits until it starts displaying the page before filling in the URL bar. (In some cases, this behavior makes sense to prevent spoofing, but about:newtab isn't an attacker.)
This annoys me the most when loading pages from Bugzilla for the sole purpose of getting the bug number into my clipboard.
