As discussed with John Slater via email, the QA team is interested in creating a postcard that could be used at various events to try to get community involved. We don't have any specific deadline for this project, but it would be very beneficial to have it available as events are always going on.
Each team will want to customize the copy for this postcard. We don't need it in Word format, but we would have to give you copy from each team and then I guess have it printed?
The example below is copy from the Web QA team:
Mozilla Web QA
Come join our community; our group ensures high quality, secure, and user-friendly websites, from downloading Firefox to installing over a bajillion add-ons, through Mozilla.com, addons.mozilla.org, support.mozilla.com, and much more!

*File suggested fixes and help improve the products
*New to QA? We would love to work with you and help you get started with manual testing, security testing, and writing test cases.
*Interested in writing automated tests? We use a combination of Selenium and Python.

Thanks Marcia. A few quick questions to help us get going:
- just so I'm clear, you guys will supply more copy for other versions and then we'll provide the assets you need to print? How many other versions will there be?
- are there any visual elements you would consider mandatory for this (ex. QMO logo)?
- do you have any team photos or event photos we could look at? If there are some good ones, those might be a great thing to feature if so.
Also copying Matej...could you do a quick review of comment #0 to make sure the copy is consistent with our style rules? (I see an Oxford comma in there, for example)

We will supply copy for other versions, although at this point I don't know how many other teams will opt in. I know that the Desktop team worked on some copy, and I imagine that the Mobile team would want something as well.
I don't believe that the QMO logo is mandatory - I would prefer something that speaks to the larger Mozilla project.
I will search around for pictures, but at the moment I cannot find a good set of pictures - Henrik might have some on his site.

Not trying to quibble, but can't the group that's writing the messaging for their own team use an Oxford comma? Seems a bit top-down to dictate what/how groups can write their own outbound communications.

Disagree - we should have a universal Mozilla style for all outbound communications. The Oxford comma in and of itself isn't a big deal, but in the big picture there's a lot of value in doing things consistently across the board. That's how most orgs do it.

Thanks Matej. Marcia, any copy comments? Any luck finding photos?
One more question - are you thinking this would be a one-sided postcard (that you could actually mail) or a two-sided one?

I wasn't able to find any photos yet.
The main use case for this postcard would be at events, so I don't envision a need to be mailing it out. So it would nice to have a design on one side and then the message on the other side.
I was thinking maybe the individual teams would want to use their respective logos on https://quality.mozilla.org/, but I would have to check with them.

Collecting the details so far then:
- 2-sided postcard (one side copy-heavy, one side design-heavy)
- copy in comment #5 is for the web QA team, but eventually the plan is to use similar templates for the various branches of the QA team shown on https://quality.mozilla.org/, so we may want to work in a space to identify each card with the appropriate team logo (Marcia - where can we get those files?)
- I think photos would be a nice way to fill the space, but we should have a plan B in case we can't round enough good ones up.
Am assigning this to Rhonda.

Update from Stephen/WebQA:
Stephen is OK with using the WebQA logo on QMO. I will have to hunt through my mail to find out who created those logos.
WebQA has a team offsite at the end of August and would like to wait until then to get a good team picture to use for their postcard.
Meanwhile I am working on getting info from the other teams.

Hey Marcia--
After reading through the comments I'll wait until I get the team pic from you at the end of August to mock this up--shouldnt take long once we have that.
Then I'll just need you to point me in the direction of the team logos.
:)
thanks!

Rhonda: Version 2 of the Postcard will be for the Desktop Firefox team (Version 1 is for WebQA and we are waiting for their team picture at the end of August):

For this design, we don't want to use a team picture - we would prefer something that is Firefox-logo centric on the design side.
We don't have a specific deadline for these cards, but with college recruiting events coming up in the fall, it would be great to have something to give out.

Hey guys--
I took a shot at designing the first round. Take a look at it here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/36432639/QA_postcard.pdf
I added the URL in the front--might not be the right one but I felt like we needed an URL here to go along with the title.
Let me know what you think.

Hey all,
Rhonda - we no longer use Meta for our text, only our wordmarks. We should be using Open Sans for everything that isn't a wordmark now.
Also, that orange background is from an old campaign. Our new style has a different orange gradient. I can send you a link to examples.

Good feedback, thanks Sean. Can you include the new & improved orange gradient here so Rhonda can use it?

Hey guys--
I put the photo in place for Version 2 of the QA Postcard, but it looks a little grainy and unfocused. Is there an alternate photo we can use instead?

Rhonda: Can we just use the graininess as a design element? If that is the best we have, I would go with that.

I agree, if it's a choice between no postcard and one with a less than ideal photo, I opt for the latter.

Rhonda: I just checked and the email address is correct, so everything in Comment 14 is correct in terms of copy. I noticed that Matej copy edited the WebQA version so I assume we would want to do that with the desktop version as well before final signoff.

Hey guys--
Please review this final proof for both versions. You will notice that one version (with the photo)is labeled as "Web QA" and the orange version with the FF logo is the "Desktop QA" version.
Both versions currently share the same copy on the back of each.
Thanks!

Hi Rhonda -
The Web QA team should be titled "Mozilla Web QA Team," and the copy should be from comment 5 -- with those two tweaks, ours looks good; thanks!

Rhonda: Just a few comments on the Desktop design:
*Is there a reason the ".org" is done in black print instead of matching the white on the first page?
*Anthony pointed out that the first link on the second page should be "https://nightly.mozilla.org/"
Other than that, I think everything else looks good.
John: Now that we have final designs, how do we go about letting you know quantity and getting these printed? Thanks.

The black "org" was the way the design used to go--but it has since been dropped so good catch. :)
