If and when a user tries to open a marketplace URL in their browser, we should either

a) Ask them if they want to launch the marketplace app instead (and let them)
b) If they have deleted the marketplace app for whatever reason, prompt them to install it.

Also, we need to give them a setting to not be prompted again.

Is there something here for the marketplace team to do?
so long as we don't do this:

We can reuse existing banner to code to do this. This will be very nice to have for Fireplace.

Is this bug now to use WebActivities to fire up the 'place when we detect that you're on FXOS and not in a chromeless environment?

Yep.
Michael, if you get a chance to take a look at this, that'd be awesome - thanks!

If we can get UX for this, we can display a banner like this:

{% if not capabilities.chromeless %}
...
{% endif %}
I can knock these out.

Do we have specific copy for each banner?

Hey there, Matej - if you have a quick minute we could use your copy skillz for comment 0. We need a short sentence pitching users to launch (or install) use the Marketplace app for those users visiting the Marketplace from a web browser.

Totally happy to help. Would something as simple as this work?

"Would you like to use the Firefox Marketplace app instead?"

Let me know if you need these in SVG format.

Can we get these in SVG format?
Working on the spinner, not sure if this will scale because of the transparency.

Looks like we have what we need for this. Marking as New and unassigning Michael so someone can jump on it.

Should this affect Desktop or be limited only to mobile browsers?
It should be limited to platforms that support packaged app installation. cvan added a line to capabilities.js to detect that.
Currently, this is blocked on having troubles firing WebActivities to the packaged Marketplace on FxOS.

Working on a timeline for that in email.
We can do this now - webactivities have landed.
Depends on: 929213
Showing messages about "you should open this in our app" is the most annoying thing ever. We could this through web activities, but as yet there isn't any functionality in the app that the site doesn't. We feel it would make more sense to redirect people to the app when there is something they can't do through the web.

+1 the only reason I can see we might want users to use the app is if there's an active user session there and rumour has it that apps have better perf than the browser does on FxOS.
