When bug 783382 and any other bugs are done, we'll have version check as a stand alone repository using metlog and ready for deploy as a services deployment. It doesn't use vendor-local, but uses pip as well.

This bug is to figure out what else needs to be done to get it running and deployable onto -dev and have it stood up there.
Thanks for filing this.  Due to resource constraints we are closing bugs which we won't realistically be able to fix.  If you have a patch that applies to this bug please reopen.
