From bug 758326 comment 26: Here's my setup: A fresh install of Windows 7 x64, neither Tb nor Firefox installed Firefox Aurora 16.0a2 Thunderbird Daily (try build) 17.0a1, from bug 758326 comment 24 (1) Install Tb. A directory called "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Maintenance Service" is created with a file called maintenanceservice.exe, file version 17.0a1. The Uninstall.exe in the same directory has version 17.0a1. (2) Install Aurora. The Uninstall.exe is overwritten with version 16.0a2.
Brian, didn't you fix this? Sid0, can you still reproduce?

This is still a bug but it is not a high priority because the service uninstaller is the same everywhere and likely won't be changing anytime soon. Note that there is special handling for installing the service binary itself, we just don't use that same logic for the uninstaller.

I'm not sure if this is related so let me know and I will create a new bug. I had Firefox 54.0.1 (32-bit) installed and looking in the control panel Mozilla Maintenance Service version 54 came with it. When I installed Firefox ESR 52.2.1 (32-bit) it uninstalled the other Firefox versions, but it left the Maintenance Service. Now, I have Mozilla Maintenance Service version 54 and 52.2.1.

I had Firefox 54.0.1 (32-bit) installed and looking in the control panel
Mozilla Maintenance Service version 54 came with it. When I installed
Firefox ESR 52.2.1 (32-bit) it uninstalled the other Firefox versions, but
it left the Maintenance Service. Now, I have Mozilla Maintenance Service
version 54 and 52.2.1.

That is intentional.
