User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 Build ID: 20120905184804 Steps to reproduce: Upgraded to the nightly build 05/09/2012 Aurora 178.0a2 on Ubuntu 11.10 64bit Actual results: The Aurora menu is no longer contained in the Ubuntu top bar, it is now part of the static browser window. Expected results: The browser window should remain clear and the browser menu should stay in the top Ubuntu global bar.
Component: Untriaged → Widget: Gtk
Product: Firefox → Core
It's broken again with the most recent nightly.
I am experiencing the same problem as John with the latest release over the official update channel ("17"), my os: Ubuntu 12.04.1 (32bit)
after having upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10 I am still experiencing this issue. Thunderbird version: 17.0 released on Nov. 20, 2012.
Can people experiencing this problem check that the menubar addon is installed? (Tools -> Add-ons)? In the launchpad bug, it looks like it isn't: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/122716943/Extensions.txt We did have a random build-ordering issue where the menubar addon xpi was getting packed without the install.rdf, but this should have been fixed with https://launchpadlibrarian.net/122716943/Extensions.txt
I am still experiencing the bug after reinstalling the Thunderbird (and addon "Global Menu Bar integration 3.6.4") packages with Synaptic Package Manager. Screenshot: http://ubuntuone.com/5ACYYJBoAOumtRAPyqZaVv
I'm confused. Your screenshot shows the addon installed and working fine

That's what I get for commenting before making coffee ;)
Dear Chris, Look again, only the Menu Bar (File, Edit, ..; In German: Datei, Bearbeiten, ..) in itself is integrated in the Global Menu Bar; The icons allowing one to close and minimise (excuse the newbie language) do not integrate into the GMB. Furthermore the "Maximise" button has disappeared, and maximizing doesn't work with sticky edges. I thought this is ment by the term "broken". Maybe there should be made a seperate bug report? I do not know how to do this productively, but this bug is definitely annoying. I will try to downgrade to tb 16.02. There integration functions completely
Ah, so the issue in your screenshot isn't really anything to do with the menubar. The window controls are part of the titlebar. The titlebar is merged with the panel when a window is maximized, but at all other times the titlebar (and window controls) are part of the window. If there are window control buttons missing and you have problems maximizing, then you should probably report a bug against Unity or Compiz instead. Have you been using ccsm to change settings btw?
Sorry for not being more detailed before! I see what you mean with the functioning of the titlebar, however the missing window control buttuns are only an issue specific to Thunderbird 17.0. All other applications function flawlessly with Unity & Compiz. I do not know what ccsm is, therefor I have probably not changed settings this way.. I only changed one Ubuntu setting and that was concerned bluetooth activation on startup
I have sent you an email with furthur information on my configuration, I hope this helps!
(In reply to saahleinad from comment #8) > Furthermore the "Maximise" button has disappeared, Bug 814972 also reported a missing maximise button. That seems likely due to a sawfish peculiarity, but perhaps something similar is happening with compiz, and perhaps a similar workaround (bug 813997 comment 5) might help.
I found the source to my problem. This is curious. Thunderbird 17.0 apparently has updated "minimum width parameters" (sorry, newbie language), forcing the application to disable the maximization feature on small screen computers. I have Ubuntu 12.10 running a small screen netbook, and after attaching an external monitor, maximization was possible. Furthermore, the maximization issue doesn't occur when Lightning 1.9 is deactivated (without external monitor), as the addon apparently requires further width on the screen (maybe even the addon has updated "minimum width parameters"??). I am sorry if I am therefore "spamming" on this bug issue. MORE INFORMATION: (I hope this is properly done) Current configuration: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Thunderbird/17.0 Extension: Lightning 1.9, ID: {e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103} Computer: Samsung N220-Marvel Plus (Screen: 2.048 x 1.536 Pixel) STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Upgrade to Thunderbird 17.0 (Nov. 20, 2012) from Thunderbird 16.02 (All from official release channels; Ubuntu software updater). Then update from Lightning 1.8 to Lightning 1.9. ACTUAL RESULTS: A fully functional Thunderbird opens, that cannot be maximized, and that is missing a "Maximize" button. EXPECTED RESULTS: Even on small screen netbooks, Thunderbird should be able to maximize like in the previous software configuration (TB 16.02, Lightning 1.8)
