Flash bug Word doc

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1
Build ID: 20120905151427

Steps to reproduce:

I installed the latest Adobe Flash Player (11.4.402.265).
In fact it is an issue for > 10.3.

Actual results:

Whenever I run a video (like from Youtube) I get:
"Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working". This is followed by a grey screen with a Lego block on it, saying "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed".

Expected results:

A video should have played.
This issue was present on the last FF release, and I cannot see it on the unresolved list. So here's letting you know it still fails.
I have to revert to Adobe Flash Player 10.3 to make it work. Very Bad. Am I the only FF user who watches videos?
(Its no problem in IE9 with ActiveX)

Downgrading to Flash 10.3 is a workaround and won't fix this Flash issue once Flash 10.3 is no longer maintained with security updates.

Those Flash crashes introduced by Flash 11.3 (Flash protected mode) depend on user's configuration (graphics driver, antivirus software, third-party software, add-ons...).
Can you provide the crash ID from about:crashes?
Does it happen in Safe Mode (see https://support.mozilla.org/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode)?

That is just telling me what I have already done.
Adobe Flash Player 11.3 and the latest (11.4) have the bug, so I have to go back to 10.3.
My complaint is that:
a. there is no fix yet
b. It is not on the list on unresolved issues for the latest FF release (15.0.1)

These crashes are generic and just mean that Flash has crashed.

> I haven't tried Safe Mode, but I will if this will help...
Yes especially if you have reliable steps to reproduce in Normal Mode.

Hi Scoobidiver,
I restarted FF in safe mode, and immediately got 7 errors in a row "Adobe Flash Player 11.4 r402 has stopped working"

I went to iGoogle page, and tried to play the video "You Me At Six".

It means it's not caused by one of your add-ons and your graphics drivers.
It seems you have an old version of Trusteer Rapport, please update it as requested in https://support.mozilla.org/kb/firefox-crashes-troubleshoot-prevent-and-get-help#w_update-your-internet-security-software

Fantastic! You have solved it!
I got into a support session with Trusteer, and indeed my version of Rapport was out of date (Emerald Build 1205.4).
I downloaded the latest version from http://download.trusteer.com/Gcur4Wtnu/RapportSetup.exe and am now at Emerald Build 1205.8.
I rebooted my PC, and all is good wrt videos.
How obscure!! No way anyone could work that one out themselves. Well done.
Please add this resolution to Firefox FAQs as there must be lots of peops using On-Line banking and been encouraged to install Rapport. There is no automatic checking for new versions by this software, so you would never solve this issue...

The solution is in the link of comment 7. The KB couldn't be maintained with references to every programs interfering with Firefox in the world.

Understood, but:

Update your Internet Security software

Make sure you have the latest version of your Internet security software (including firewalls, antivirus programs, anti-spyware programs, and more).

is a tad generic, when you know certain software has actually caused an issue.
