User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu/12.04 Chromium/18.0.1025.168 Chrome/18.0.1025.168 Safari/535.19 Steps to reproduce: I have a large mailbox (IMAP) and am subscribed to a lot of busy email lists. Even when the load average is less than 1.00, when I am composing email, everything in the compose window (and pretty much Thunderbird) stops responding for 10 to 60 seconds at a time. This is maddening when you are trying to compose an email. If you can't make everything in Thunderbird responsive, there should be a hierarchy of importance so that important things like composing can be responsive. Actual results: It was unresponsive. (Even with all add ons disabled.) Expected results: It should have at least let the compose window respond. (Other programs were responsive.)
Can we get a stack trace when it's unresponsive ?
rob, how big is your Drafts folder? what is your mail check interval - 5 minutes, 3 minutes?

Hi Wayne, This bug isn't bugging me anymore, and I don't know why for sure. It used to be terrible. I pared my mailboxes down, made sure I wasn't locally caching anything but my inbox, and anything else I could think of including adding a solid state drive and upgrading my computer to a newer one. (I had many lists sorted into forders.) My drafts folder is only about 160 messages.
