Details

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #228315 +++

STR
1. Compose HTML msg
2. apply any formatting:
- add links
- change text color (bug 228315)
- bold, italics, etc.
- add tables
- add images
3. optionally select subsection of formatted text
4. Edit | Rewrap (or Ctrl+R)

Actual Results:

- all HTML formatting is removed, and converted to plaintext

Expected Results:
- rewrap text
- preserve all HTML formatting

I don't use rewrap myself, so I'm not exactly sure about the original idea and exact functionality of rewrap. But certainly converting to plaintext shouldn't be part of that unless it's included in the command caption ("Convert to plaintext and rewrap"). If it's not applicable for HTML text, it should be disabled.

I could not find any bug that covers this as a *general* problem, but there are some covering individual aspects of this, like bug 228315.
