A number of tasks need completing here:
1. Maintain a dirty flag for a document.
2. Put up "do you want to save dialog' when closing a dirty document.
   Handle the case of quit, were cancelling one of these should abort the quit
   process.
3. Have each document keep track of the disk file. Don't open two windows
   for the same file.

this bug has been investigated, simon has a handle on the fix.
I just did some extensive testing, and the only problem I found left I filed a
bug for (18496) and have a fix. So I'm marking this fixed.
