I'm not quite sure how to get this data out of webtrends. This would have to be a user logged into the marketplace, which would be based on a session cookie. Wonder how AMO does this.

Why not just IP?

Also, doesn't webtrends track uniques on it's own with unique cookies?

I think webtrends tracks uniques already. David would like to track authenticated vs non-authenticated. I think a simple way to do this is set the META tag here:
kb.webtrends.com/support/solutiondetail.aspx?Id=50140000000a92kAAA
If we set this: DCS.dcsaut to the same value for every user, I think we can use that in webtrends without exposing users names.

That change went out today, let's see if they show up in webtrends.

The Authenticated usernames report shows that we got 1 visit, but 1640 hits. That's not quite what we wanted. We wanted visits per user, probably because we are using one username for all.

Are we still using webtrends or Google Analytics now? Might this have to be re-done with GA?
Though this is really three tasks: Get the auth/anon data into GA, collect and process them in monolith and create a dashboard in mkt. Once the collection step has been done, we should create the other bugs.

All google analytics now. Allen may know more about if GA knows about authed users (I'm not sure why it would...)

David is working on a new PRD, so this user story is basically outdated. The request to track registered users is still in the new draft PRD, so a similar story is likely to return. But lets wait for the concrete details.
