Details

We have created a new video-snippet and we would like it to go live early next week (Week of Nov. 5th).

CC'd is Mkelly who created it and who will deliver the details.

Bug for snippet is bug 770225.

Will attach access instructions and a short summary of intended functionality shortly.

tbx: Are you just targeting release Firefox with this snippet?

The release of Firefox? No relation to that, no. Would love to have it live on Tuesday.

What I meant was: Which version of Firefox will this snippet be sent to? There's the current released version (16), Beta, Aurora, or Nightly. Typically we only push snippets to the currently released version unless it is a special campaign aimed at the other channels.

Adding Winston in case he has input on this as well.
Would be great, of course, to have it "everywhere", but I think Winston should decide on that.

In general the reason why we put so much detailed work into this is because it shall be the new standard for video-snippets, maybe for a long time.
Unfortunately bug 807378 is blocking testing of this. Hopefully we can get that resolved soon and I'll update the bug with test instructions.
Depends on: 807378
I think this make the most sense on GA vs beta, aurora and nightly. Those are super small audiences anyway and we try to reserve those snippets for new features like Social API.
With bug 807379 resolved we can start QAing this snippet. See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Projects/Firefox_Start/Snippet_Service#Testing_Snippets_with_Local_or_Stage_Service for instructions on how to preview the snippet on stage. Use flicks_2012_video as the name.

List of functionality:

1. Show a normal snippet with a blue highlight string that, when clicked, reveals a video player.

2. At any time, on hover an X should appear in the top right that lets you collapse the video. If the video is playing, this should pause it.

3. Once it starts playing, a Share button should appear above the video on hover that changes from blue to white when you hover over it. Clicking it should bring up the share screen and pause the video.

4. The share screen should have a link to https://firefoxflicks.mozilla.org on the top.

5. The share screen should have two social share buttons, for Twitter and Facebook. They should both use the shortlink shown in the text box below them and should show either customized tweet text (which is currently 3 characters over the limit, ignore that) or info from the video's Flicks page.

6. If the share button was clicked, the bottom of the share screen should show a Resume button.

7. The share screen should show automatically once the video finishes playing. The Resume link should change to a Replay link and should restart video playback.

Please let me know if you need any more info.
Whoops, I meant bug bug 807378 of course.

Thanks so much Mike for writing-down the detailed functionality.

QA: Please keep us posted on the status of testing this!
I tested on stage and was able to view the video. The share buttons at the end of the video also work as expected
I also tested on stage, saw the video- also tested the shortened link, the firefoxflicks.org link, replay link.
Cool, thanks a ton all!

I tested on stage and can confirm the behaviour for each of items 1 through 7, above.
Awesome. Thx all!
