Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 (20121119183901) STR: 1. Install the latest version of Skype Click to Call. http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-computer/click-to-call/windows 2. Go to Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\{82AF8DCA-6DE9-405D-BD5E-43525BDAD38A} and edit install.rdf to make it compatible with Firefox 17. 3. Start Firefox and enable Click to Call. Restart the browser when requested to. 4. Open a Facebook profile that has phone numbers associated with it. Actual Results: On all Firefox versions, Click to Call is enabled, the feature being visible in the browser. On Fx17 RC build 2 and on fx 17 beta 1, this addon's functionality doesn't work - phone numbers are highlighted and nothing happens when clicking on them. The addon works fine on Firefox 15.0.1 and 16.0.2.

(In reply to Ioana Budnar [QA] from comment #0) > On Fx17 RC build 2 and on fx 17 beta 1, this addon's functionality doesn't > work - phone numbers are highlighted and nothing happens when clicking on > them. Correction: phone numbers are not highlighted. If the Skype button weren't present in the URL toolbar (and in the Addons Manager), you wouldn't know that the addon is actually installed.
Given that Skype hasn't updated their add-on to be compatible with Firefox yet, and the fact that it includes binary components, I'm not confident this is a Firefox regression. I think they are releasing a Fx17 compatible update next week so we'll want to continue to track.

Ioana, can you check what happens when you have the add-on installed in Firefox 15.0.1 and update to Firefox 17 on betatest?

This is bug 813264.

I don't think this is a dupe of bug 813264 -- it's probably worth being in the dependency tree though. Please explain why you duped it.

That bug is about Skype click-to-call being broken by a late beta change in Firefox 17, this bug says Skype click-to-call is broken in Firefox 17. What leads you to believe they're not the same?
Bug 813264 is about an API change which potentially broke any third-party add-ons using a particular interface IID. Skype was just the only one we knew about. *This* bug is more likely a compatibility problem in the Skype add-on. We can't specifically tie this to bug 813264 until we've confirmed this bug does not reproduce in an earlier Firefox 17 Beta (before the changes landed).

bug 813264 comment 0 quotes an email from Skype developers indicating that they tested with b5 and it worked, and it broke in b6. I'm not sure how it can be any clearer than that.

(In reply to Anthony Hughes, Mozilla QA (:ashughes) from comment #3) > Ioana, can you check what happens when you have the add-on installed in > Firefox 15.0.1 and update to Firefox 17 on betatest? After the update, the addon stayed enabled and it simply stopped working (as described in comment 0).

Keep tracking what got fixed in bug 813264 in there and track what was quoted in comment 0 here - it would mean reopening this bug. 2. Keep tracking the everything in bug 813264 until Click to Call starts working - it would mean reopening bug 813264 now. You can't leave both the bugs in the state they are in now, or this issue will stay unfixed and untracked.

Ioana, can you see if this reproduces in Firefox 17.0b5? If it doesn't then this can stay duped. If it still reproduces then we should reopen this bug and mark it as dependent.

Okay, I guess I didn't realize this bug was tracking the fact that Skype has not released a compatible version of this extension yet. It sounds like they have a working version, it just hasn't been released (modulo our fix in bug 813264 for us breaking them in b6).

I don't think we need to track this bug - it'll be resolved when Skype releases a new version.

(In reply to Alex Keybl [:akeybl] from comment #14) > I don't think we need to track this bug - it'll be resolved when Skype > releases a new version. Did you mean to mark this tracking-firefox17+ or should it be minused? Do we have a timeline for them to push a fix? I heard January. My suggestion would be to mark this bug resolved INVALID and reopen if we see further issues after Skype pushes their new version.

I assume this was fixed with the new release.
