I can reproduce this on 18 and above. The developer has been notified.

This was just fixed with the latest update of the extension.

Can browse through sites from the new tab page in parallel, so the initial issue is fixed. (Tab King 5.1.7)
There still are some obvious problems: no thumbnails rendered and can't load any page with a thumbnail from within the new tab page. Reported the ones that weren't already mentioned to the forum.
